Wedding Theme Week: The Black and Bling Collection

The Black and Bling Collection
Pearls, Crystals, Rhinestones, Onyx and Silver create that "WOW" factor for your wedding! Think Modern and Sleek, think Old Hollywood Glamour, think YOU!

When one of the colors you have chosen for your wedding is "Bling", then you have to be referring to Swarovski crystals. When you mix them with traditional pearls and rhinestones, the combination is incredible!

We also have garters, guestbooks, flowergirl baskets and ringbearer pillows that are Made in America and made to order just to complement your theme. From incredible satins to exquisite jewels, from peacock feathers to zebra stripes, whatever your theme, let us help make your accessories be a reflection of your style.

Remember that not all items we have for this particular theme can be shown in this blog, we have several of them on our webstore, and would ask that you click on the titles below the pictures above to be taken directly to that section of our webstores or EMAIL US so that we can work with you individually on your personal event.

Whatever your theme, if you don't find what you are looking for, let us know, we can create items that are perfect for your event and that will make your special day, personal!

Wedding Theme Week: The Beach Collection

This week, we are going to show some examples of different items we have to celebrate different themes that you make have for your wedding. During this week, we are going to include a main picture of displayed items and spotlight on one or two different items to complement that theme.

The Beach Collection
Whether you choose Aquas, Turquoise, Corals, Sand or other "Beachy" tones, we can custom design jewelry items that will match or coordinate with all of the designers' colors for the season. We have monogrammed, all-natural shells for pendants, bracelets and earrings that are GREAT for bridesmaids gifts. We also have starfish in three metallic finishes and several sizes that can be incorporated into jewelry as well.

For your receptions, we have non-tarnish silver, table and place card holders in several designs including, shells and starfish. Plus, the great thing about these is that you can use them for your home entertaining after the wedding, AND you don't have to break out any silver polish!

While we may not have your theme listed for this week, we are hoping that you will add your comments and we will create a theme that will work well with your event.

Remember that not all items we have for that particular theme can be shown in this blog, we have several of them on our webstore, and would ask that you click on the titles below the pictures above to be taken directly to that section of our webstores or EMAIL US so that we can work with you individually on your personal event.

Wedding Planner or Not??

In this tight economy, some may be trying to decide on whether or not to spend the money on a wedding planner. Well, after seeing the events that brides were putting together this weekend at The Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show, it is my option, that your wedding day is a VERY special day, you shouldn't be worried about the details at that point. The bride has, in most cases, never planned a big event like this before. Trust someone that has done this enough to know what questions to even ask. You might not even know to ask the caterer if they provide the place settings, table card holders, linens, etc. A professional planner can at the very least be there on your day to make sure that everything is handled like you had prepared for.

While we can can help you choose personalized bridal party gifts, engraved or custom designed jewelry, table card holders, favors, etc., a wedding planner can work with us to make sure that all of the details of those gifts get presented at the right time and with the intention that you had intended. They can also make sure that the theme and overall "look" you were going for comes across to create an unforgettable event.

After being with some of the planners this past weekend, I was SO impressed with their presentations. We were lucky to be next to Southern Shindigs (notice that Southern thing). Their table was the most elegant Spring presentation I have ever seen. They pulled together the pinks, yellows, sages and golds to create an AMAZING Vintage Rose display.

If you are looking for a wedding planner, you can click on the link under the picture above and it will take you to Southern Shindigs website where you can get more information about planning your next event. Let Southern Shindigs... Add Southern Flair to your Sophisticated Affair!

Colors, Colors, and Colors OH MY!

We participated in a wedding show this weekend. Since we do custom wedding jewelry for brides and the bridal party, as well as personalized bridesmaids and groomsman's gifts, we decided to be a part of this show. It was The Perfect Wedding Guide (Atlanta) Show and was held at the beautiful CNN/Omni Hotel. It was such a beautful day and brides came from all around.

In chatting with the brides about their jewelry and gifts, monograms and themes, I noticed that the choice of black for bridesmaids colors were being pushed aside to make way for colors, and I mean LOTS OF COLORS! As a matter of fact, I even made the comment to my husband (and partner in crime) that I had not heard the same color combinations repeated. These are not your standard black and red combinations, the colors ranged in purples from royal, to eggplant, to periwinkle. Then, to top it off they were mixing colors all over the place! Because we specially design and hand create jewelry to fit within a brides budget, we also match all of the top designers' colors. To give you some ideas for your wedding, here are some of the colors we may soon be working with.
Eggplant and Gold
Watermelon and Wisteria
Guava and Sage
Merlot, Cotton Candy and Pistaschio
Chocolate and Celedon
Ice Blue and Taupe
Royal Purple and Red Velvet
Lilac, White and Gold
Navy, Silver and Rose
Canary, Clover and Terracotta
Iris and Spring Yellow
Champagne and Wine
Brick Red and Slate
...and the list goes on!

I can't wait to see all of the pictures of these punches of colors! I am so glad that brides are stepping out of the box and really creating something wonderful, original and personal. It is exciting when they challenge us to create personalized gifts and one-of-a-kind gifts for their friends and family members.

We would love to hear the colors that you have chosen for your wedding, and if you have already gotten married, we would love to see the photos for inspiration.

Post them here or send them to us at : thesouthernjewelrybox@yahoo.com. We will have a drawing for everyone that posts a comment here to have an opportunity to win a pair of earrings in the color your wedding will be done in or was done in.

We will have 2 winners, one for future brides and one for the ones that have taken the plunge. You do not have to send in a photo to qualify. All you have to do is comment, and tell us what colors you used.

In case you are wondering.... I used plain yellow, green and white.

Don't forget to send your color choices and pics in!

Labor Day Kicks Off Football, Apples, Friends, Fall and FUN!

As of this afternoon, it will be official. No matter what date the calendar sets as Fall, it seems to all start this weekend. Of course, football season starts. Which might I add, sometimes around the South, you would think it was a National Holiday. People start "nestling", tailgating and decorating their homes.

Also, all of the Apple Festivals seem to kick off. Soon we will be at the NC Apple Festival for our fourth year and enjoying it as always. It is held annually in Hendersonville, NC. We usually come home with more apples than you can imagine. Plus, you have never seen so many things made from so many different varieties of apples.

So I thought... since apples are in season, maybe you will be making some wonderful apple recipes for your family. Now is the time to share that treasure. So to help you tie it off and dress it up and give it to your friends, neighbors and family as gifts, I have a suggestion.  This recipe card bundle is a great gift to give to those you share with. To make this project, you can click on the picture and it will take you directly to that section of our webstore.

Kickoffs, Football, and Cheerleading Season

Seems that you can almost feel it in the air, the anticipation of kickoffs. Whether it is recreational neighborhood leagues, high school teams or those always loved SEC and NFL teams, seems that everybody gets excited waiting for it.

Me, personally, I am the mother of three girls, we have cheered for what is going to be my 19th year as a cheer mom, 16 of which I coached and the last 10 consecutive years I have been at the high school with a cheerleader, only 3 more seasons to go. (Whew! That sounds scarry even to me when you write it like that.) So around here we are getting our uniforms ready, making sure our shoes shine and that we have our ribbons in our bag. The town pep rally is Thursday and the first High School home game is Friday. Then season will be off and running!

As a cook, I look forward to tasting and gathering recipes from other moms for the tailgating parties. Seems that in the South we have a totallly different appreciation for the sport. Don't believe me? Then ride through Athens, GA on game day and shout, "Roll Tide!" Or take a trip through Tuscaloosa and mention that you prefer Auburn. Yeah trust me that will make a believer out of you.

All in all you can almost smell it in the air, feel it in your bones. Women are shopping for gameday attire and men are placing bets. Because of all of that, I have been adding new items to our college section of our webstore and will be adding more daily. Check your favorite team section, if you don't see what you are looking for, let me know, I can probably get it. http://www.thesouthernjewelrybox.com/collegiate.html

I am SO excited about this season! If you have photos or great tailgating recipes, please send them to me so that we can share. I mean, that's what good Southern women do, right?

Guess What's New???

Blogging seems to be our newest adventure.

We are hoping that we can share our products, events and thoughts, and that you will join in and share your ideas with us. In our regular monthly newsletter, we have a column called "Grits, Greens and Gravy" and in that column we include snippets of something related to life in the South, a favorite recipe, quotes, or just plain fun stuff. Since everyone has enjoyed that information, we thought that blogging would be a great way to not only share on a more frequent basis but we hope that you will share your favorite info with us too.

So y'all hang in there with us as we learn as we go. Glad to have you with us.
